Anderson "The Spider" Silva Headlines UFC CardUFC Fight Night Live July 19th On SPIKE TVMMA Phenom Anderson Silva takes aim at UFC 205 lb crown
Since joining the UFC two years ago, Anderson “The Spider” Silva has left an unprecedented path of destruction through the middleweight division. First, he solidified his ability to compete in the UFC with a crushing knockout of fan-favorite slugger Chris “The Crippler” Leben. This devastating victory opened a lot of eyes to the superior ability of “The Spider,” but it was not until he demolished long-time champ, Rich “Ace” Franklin not once, but twice, both in unmatched, dominating fashion, that it was clear anderson silva is in a league of his own. Now, two years later, silva is justly regarded as the best MMA fighter in the world, in any weightclass. He looks to prove he indeed is the best when he moves up to the stacked 205 lb division to wreck havoc. This is the next step for “The Spider” in an attempt to find qualified opposition after destroying everyone the 185 lb class had to offer. Following his dismantling of Dan Henderson, Silva shockingly called out boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. and stated he would like to fight Jones Jr. in a boxing match to prove his technical skills. Knowing a loss could be crushing to his best fighters reputation, UFC President Dana White acted quickly and presented “The Spider” with the challenge of moving up to light-heavy and tangling with the big boys. If Silva can conquer the unforgiving lightheavyweight division, there will be no doubt about his place in the history of the sport as the best ever. Silva obviously has accepted Dana White's challenge and will take on James “The Sandman” Irvin july 19th at ufc fight night live. Irvin is a man that's young UFC career includes some of the best highlight-reel knockouts ever caught on tape. Irvin is heavy-handed, and could hurt silva, something the middleweights appeared unable to do. The tough part for “The Sandman” will be trying to avoid being hurt by “The Spider". This live event on cable television will be a great opportunity for those new to the sport to get a taste of what it's all about at it's best. Anderson Silva is no Kimbo Slice. He is a master of Brazilian-Jiu-Jitsu, as well as Muay Thai. People will see knees, fists, shins, and elbows all night from the best in the business, and hopefully get a performance that brings them back to the growing sport. Other Notable Bouts:Hermes Franca vs. Frankie EdgarReese Andy vs. Brandon Vera
