Brock Lesnar has Swine Flu

The UFC heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar, has had the swine flu more properly known as H1N1 for a few weeks now and it has impacted him severly. He hasn't been able to train because he has had to deal with the problems that come along with being sick. He said that it has just become a sickness that he hasn't been able to kick and that while he has had to deal with it, he has not been able to train. When you can't train, you can't fight.

Lesnar Won't Fight at UFC 106

As a direct effect of having H1N1, Brock Lesnar will not be able to compete at UFC 106 against Shane Carwin. Obviously he would not be ready as he hasn't been able to train for a few weeks. This is very unfortunate as Carwin was definitely ready for this fight and looking forward to his opportunity to challenge Lesnar for the heavyweight title.

Lesnar vs. Carwin UFC 108

It has been officiall announced that the fight has been pushed back to UFC 108 in January. Carwin was definitely upset to hear the news that the fight was not going to take place in November. He was even more upset that he found out about the fight being called off through the media rather than hearing it from a UFC official. The UFC now has the task of finding a fill in main event fight that can take place of this one at UFC 106. It is less than a month away so replacing the fight will not be an easy task.

The UFC has had to do a lot of mixing and matching in their upcoming events. There have been a lot of fights that have were scheduled that will not take place because of injuries or fighters backing out. Rampage Jackson was scheduled to fight Rashad Evans after The Ultimate Fighter 10 ends, but he has since retired from the UFC. This has a lot of TUF fans upset because of the huge rift between Jackson and Evans on the show. It would have been a huge event that all UFC fans would have loved to see. Tito Ortiz and Mark Coleman were scheduled to fight at UFC 106 also, but Mark Coleman dropped out of the fight. Luckily the UFC was able to replace him with Forrest Griffin. Due to the nature of the sport, there will continue to be many instances of fighters having to back out of their bouts. It is up to the UFC to do a good job of replacing these fighters and fights with fights of equal importance in the fans eyes.
