Team Rampage gets their first win of the season and quarterfinal matches are announced.
7-1 ends the preliminary rounds of TUF 10. Marcus Jones delivers and gives Team Rampage their first win of the season via submission of the first round. The quarterfinal matches are chosen and Roy Nelson rubs Dana White the wrong way. TUF 10 – Week 8 ResultsThis week’s episode starts off with a recap of last week and the tantrum Quinton Jackson threw after his team lost there seventh straight loss to Team Rashad. Back in the house Scott Junk is seen icing a pretty banged up eye and talks about his performance, Matt Mitrione walks into looking pretty sore and retreats to his room for the night. In training the next day, Rampage calls the losses to Team Rashad mind-blowing and spends the time training with Jones for his upcoming fight. “I feel like I have a shot at winning” a confident Jones confides to the camera. Over on Team Rashad’s side Wessel has an emotional moment with the camera while talking about his wife and her struggles with cancer. Back in training, Team Rashad prepare Wessel for a stand up war, they work out the game plan and tell him to go for the over hand right and follow up with big bombs. Back in the house Brendan and James draw pictures of Marcus “Big Baby” Jones and sticks it up in the house. At the bottom of one of the drawing someone writes “sucks balls”. For one of the few times of the season Jones is not laughing, worried about his family that could be watching and especially his children Jones takes the pictures down and cools off by courtside. Brendan, Mike and James are seen outside in the patio area talking about what had just happened, where Mike fesses up that he was the one that wrote the message at the bottom of the pictures. James and Brendan confront Marcus and confess that they drew the pictures but didn’t write the message at the bottom, still upset Marcus vows to rip that arm off of the person who wrote it. Rampage attempts a half-hearted apology at the weight-ins to Darill, but quickly turns serious when he grabs a breast of Darill who doesn’t appreciate it; Darill and Rampage have a chest bumping moment before teammates of Darill step in and pull him away. Marcus Jones vs. Mike WesselThe fighters feel each other out, Wessel rushes in and throws bombs, Jones lands a few of his own. Going off the game plan, Wessel goes for the takedown, but Jones lands in top position where he automatically tries for a kimora, Wessel defends, but gives up his back and Jones almost locks in a rear-naked choke, Wessel escapes the submission attempt again and is able to get in top position. Jones locks an armbar in and makes Wessel tap for the victory via submission round one. Dana White is a bit concerned that Wessel may have broken his arm, but it turns out the arm is fine. Wessel takes the loss hard. TUF 10 – Quarterfinal MatchesDana and the coaches meet for the quarterfinal bouts, the fighters are called out one by one and asked who they would like to face. Matt Mitrione is at the top of the list; Roy Nelson takes it upon himself to point out all of the fighter’s weaknesses and tells the coaches and Dana he would fight anyone, not impressed Dana lets Roy know his fights was not one of the most impressive he’s seen, The Teams are lined up and the quarterfinal matches are announced: Roy Nelson vs. Justin Wren Brendan Schuab vs. Jon Madsen James McSweeney vs. Matt Mitrione Marcus Jones vs. Darill Schoonover Of course something was missing from this week’s episode but the coaches did not disappoint. After the matches were announced Rashad asks Dana White if some of Team Rampage’s fighters can train with him, Dana says sure. Rashad extends the invitation that is turned down after a few moments of silence before the coaches start their weekly bickering session.
