The UFC Undisputed video game for 2009 is one of the most anticipated releases in recent memory as fans are likely to flock to the local stores to see if THQ finally got the always difficult to reproduce MMA game play right.
The rankings/ratings of the fighters in UFC Undisputed have also been a hot topic as people in the Internet community have wondered just who would be ranked at what level, much like how people wait for shreds of information on the Madden player rankings for long periods of time.
There are many notable fighter rankings in UFC Undisputed that have raised some eyebrows.
UFC Undisputed Fighter Rankings
Overall, the three highest rated fighters in UFC Undisputed are BJ Penn, Anderson Silva, and Georges St. Pierre, with Penn a point behind St. Pierre at 93 overall and St. Pierre at 94.
Silva is also a 94 in the game at middleweight.
In the heavyweight division, Frank Mir has a comfortable cushion as the top fighter at a 91 overall ranking by virtue of his wins over Antonio Rodrigo Minotauro Nogueira and Brock Lesnar, both of whom are rated 88.
A big gripe with the ratings in UFC Undisputed's heavyweight division might be with unknown Antoni Hardonk having a higher rating than Mirko Cro Cop by a point at 84 to 83.
In the light heavyweight division, Keith Jardine, who has defeated Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin and is also much younger than Liddell, lags far behind the two more popular UFC fighters. Liddell is an 88 and Griffin is a 90 overall in UFC Undisputed while Jardine lags behind with a mere 79.
Jardine's rating is probably the least fair in the entire UFC Undisputed game.
Finally, Ultimate Fighter winner Amir Sadollah has an 85 rating in UFC Undisputed, which many fans feel is simply too high for a guy who hasn't had a true UFC fight outside of the Ultimate Fighter Finale win he had over CB Dolloway. It was impressive that Sadollah beat Dollaway twice to win the TUF title but he still has to prove himself before he deserves such lofty ratings.
Compare him to a veteran and headliner at UFC 96 like Jardine, who fared fairly well against Rampage Jackson, and it makes a lot of sense when people say Sadollah's rating is a bit too high at this point.
UFC Undisputed is still expected to be the most realistic MMA game ever created by a mile, however, so pick it up on the release date of May 19, 2009 to see what the hype is about.
