Recap of SpikeTV’s TUF

The last semi-final fight is held, and both teams have a farewell dinner with their coaches.

Team US is preparing a BBQ for their final dinner with coach Dan Henderson.

After the dinner Henderson and Lester are discussing fight scars. Lester says he just doesn’t want to get cauliflower ears but Henderson says, “I like them. Nobody ever (messes) with me because of my ears.”

Lester gets a pep talk from teammate Damarques Johnson to just be more relaxed when fighting this time.

Team UK members Dean Amasinger and Andre Winner are also giving a pep talk to James Wilks, warning him that Lester will be more relaxed in this fight but that Wilks can beat him again.

Lester and Wilks are bonding as friends, looking at pictures of Lester’s daughter. They give each other autographed jerseys, and sit in the sauna together.

Food Fight in TUF House

Team UK’s final dinner with coach Michael Bisbing involves a good natured prank on Bisbing, getting him to slap the back of his own head to knock off a penny which Wilks had already removed.

After the coach leaves, Winner begins spitting and throwing food, hitting Amasinger right in the face and neck with a lump of curry chicken. Amasinger chases Winner outside and throws him in the pool.

As Winner is climbing out, Dave Faulkner runs past and dumps a bag of flour over his sodden teammate. Winner lays on the ground laughing, only to be pushed into the pool again by Amasinger.

Lester Vs Wilks Rematch

Both fighters start throwing jabs and kicks but Wilks connects first. Lester hits an accidental low blow and time out is called.

As the round resumes Wilks is busier and more accurate. He hits a solid left and charges Lester to the fence near the three-minute mark but can’t finish the takedown attempt. They clinch and circle on the cage briefly slugging it out shot for shot.

Wilks again fails at a takedown and the two throw some big leather. A third defended takedown attempt by Wilks and they lock on the cage again with only a minute remaining. Both are fairly busy with knees and punches.

Wilks backs off and the two fighters trade in the final seconds of the round, with Wilks’ four-inch reach advantage clearly making a difference as he lands more shots.

Round two starts with Lester landing another accidental low blow. Resuming, Lester is punching much better. Wilks goes for a kick to the head, but does little damage.

Lester is the busier striker. Wilks lands a strong left hook but fails to capitalize. They trade strikes evenly with neither gaining a clear advantage.

Halfway through the round Wilks tries for a takedown and charges Lester to the fence. Wilks is landing head strikes from the clinch. He fails at another takedown but prevents Lester from turning around on the cage.

They break and Lester is bloody. Wilks strikes aggressively and the two stand and trade. Wilks is looking more confident as Lester is tiring. Wilks lands a strong kick to the head and follows up with a combination.

Lester lowers his head and goes for a takedown, allowing Wilks to land more head strikes and knees. They break and trade punches to the horn.

Both come out trading jabs for round three. Wilks is more aggressive with a strong right hook, then moving in with combos and knees.

He goes for a takedown but Lester is still defending well and they tie up. Lester backs away and the two trade jabs again. Wilks lands a knee and they lock up on the fence.

Wilks’ long limbs again prove advantageous as he is able to knee Lester’s face repeatedly as they stand and clinch. Lester drops to his knees.

Welterweight Finalist

Wilks pounces with more knees and a body punch before referee Herb Dean jumps in and stops the match halfway through the third round.

Winner by TKO and going to the finals to fight Damarques Johnson for the welterweight contract is James Wilks.
